Ivy Drive Weekly News: Week of Nov. 24-26
Good Afternoon, Ivy Drive School Community:
Another (shortened) week of teaching and learning at Ivy Drive School is in the books! This week, our classes reflected on all that we are thankful for and worked together to create their class turkey for our annual Turkey Derby, which was held today. This schoolwide tradition brings our community together, celebrates gratitude, and adds a little fun and excitement to our week. Each class participated in the Turkey Derby relay, proudly showcasing their turkey and class chant! Special thanks to our first grade team—Mrs. Morgan, Mrs. Ross, and Mrs. Schilling—for coordinating this wonderful event, and thank you to the staff members who created our “Turkey Teacher” costumes, adding even more joy to the day!
Congratulations to the winning turkey, Lil’ Turkey, from Ms. Scialdone’s fourth grade class!
Can you believe Monday is December 1st? As the weather continues to get colder, this is a friendly reminder to please send students to school with warm clothing—including a winter jacket, hat, and gloves—as classes will continue to go outside for recess following the cold weather advisory. Students will go outdoors for fresh air and physical activity if the temperature is at or above 32 degrees. We want to make sure all of our Dragons stay warm and cozy! If your child is in need of winter gear, please let us know—we are here to help.
As we head into the holiday weekend, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of our Ivy Drive families and our entire school community. I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such dedicated and caring staff and families who work tirelessly to support our students in achieving their very best. I am truly thankful for the PRIDE our community shows each and every day. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and loved ones.
I look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday, December 1st!
Warmly,
Erika Coleman
Principal
