Ivy Drive Weekly News - Week of Sept. 28.
Good Morning Ivy Drive School Community:
It was another exciting week of learning and growing at Ivy Drive School! We have so much to celebrate as our Dragons continue to demonstrate the importance of showing up, working hard, and learning together.
Celebrating Attendance:
We are incredibly proud to share that Ivy Drive School was the district’s Attendance Champion for both August and September, having the lowest rate of chronic absenteeism in the district to date! This accomplishment reflects the commitment of our students, families, and staff to making attendance a priority.
Now, we want to keep the momentum going! For our October Attendance Challenge, our students in grades K–5 are competing by grade level. The grade-level with the highest attendance rate for the month of October will earn a POPCORN PARTY! 🍿
We cannot wait to see which grade level rises to the challenge. Be here. Be on time. Be ready to learn. Attendance matters at Ivy Drive!
High-Quality Instruction at Ivy Drive:
This week, our kindergarten and first-grade teachers participated in a valuable professional learning experience alongside Central Office supervisors Zach Maher, Deb Vitale, and Carly Fortin, focused on the implementation of our new Wit & Wisdom literacy curriculum.
As part of the district’s HQI (High-Quality Instruction) experience, Mr. Maher joined our classrooms to model portions of literacy lessons for our teachers and students. In Mrs. Schilling’s first-grade classroom, students engaged in learning focused on identifying problem and solution, and Mr. Maher also modeled instruction with our kindergarten Dragons in Mrs. Akeley’s classroom.
We are especially proud that Ivy Drive’s kindergarten and first-grade teams were the first in the district to participate in this professional learning experience! Opportunities like these allow our educators to learn alongside one another, observe high-quality instructional practices in action, and continue strengthening learning experiences for all students. Our professional learning continues in a few weeks as our third- and fifth-grade teams shift the focus to mathematics and high-quality math instruction.
We are proud of the commitment our Ivy Drive educators demonstrate to continuous learning and improvement. When our students, staff, families, and district partners learn and work together, we continue to make Ivy Drive an amazing place for our Dragons to grow and succeed.
Have a wonderful weekend, Ivy Drive!
