Ivy Drive School

ID Weekly News - Week of October 14 - 17

Posted Date: 10/18/25 (10:06 AM)

Good Morning, Ivy Drive School Community:

This week, Ivy Drive School was thrilled to receive the District Attendance Award for the month of September! We had a very special visitor — the Attendance Unicorn — who surprised our students on Tuesday with a schoolwide celebration. Students and staff lined the hallways, cheering and showing their Dragon pride as the trophy was delivered!

Our students earned this award for having the highest daily attendance in the district — meaning we had the most students at school, on time, and ready to learn each day. Let’s keep the momentum going and see if we can win again for October!

On Thursday, members of the Bristol Eastern High School National Science Honor Society and their teachers volunteered right here in our community to help clear pathways along the Pequabuck River for the Pequabuck River Watershed Association. The Association was recently awarded a grant to create an Urban Water Sanctuary and Education Center — located right in Ivy Drive’s backyard in Kern Park!  Once complete, our students will enjoy hands-on, STEM-based environmental learning opportunities that connect classroom science to our local ecosystem.  A heartfelt thank you to the BEHS National Science Honor Society for your time, effort, and commitment to making our community a better place!

Friendly Reminder: Parent-Teacher Conferences This Week!
Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for this upcoming week:

  • Tuesday, October 21 and Wednesday, October 22 from 4:30–6:30 PM
  • Thursday, October 23 from 2:00–3:30 PM
Please note that dismissal for all students will be at 1:35 PM on conference days.

Our students have been busy preparing their student work samples and can’t wait to share their hard work and new learning with you during their student-led conference this week!

As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.  I’m looking forward to welcoming all of our families into school for this special week of connection and celebration of student growth!

Best,
Erika Coleman
