Ivy Drive Weekly News: Week of Dec. 15-19

Posted Date: 12/20/25 (08:51 AM)

Good Morning, Ivy Drive School Community,

What an incredible and festive week we had at Ivy Drive School! Our entire school community came together to celebrate a week-long Holiday Spirit Week, and students and staff truly embraced the holiday cheer. From wearing red and white for Candy Cane Day, to showing off favorite Grinch attire, to relaxing in pajamas for our school-wide Pajama Day, it was a joyful and fun-filled way to celebrate the season while proudly demonstrating our Ivy Drive P.R.I.D.E.

This week, we were also excited to welcome students from Bristol Eastern High School’s Early Childhood Education class, who visited Ivy Drive to observe and learn from our teachers. Several of the visiting students were former Ivy Drive Dragons and were thrilled to return to their elementary school as they prepare for future careers in education. A special thank you to Mrs. Kim DiFusco for coordinating this meaningful, hands-on learning experience for her students. It was wonderful to hear feedback from the visiting high schoolers, who noted the high level of student engagement, the access students have to challenging phonics and grammar concepts during Fundations, and the rigorous math thinking students were engaged in during math instruction.

As we head into the final days before winter vacation, please note that Monday, December 22 is a full day of school, and Tuesday, December 23 is an early release day with dismissal at 1:35 p.m. School will resume after winter break on Friday, January 2.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family and loved ones. I look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday.

Warmly,
Erika Coleman
