Ivy Drive School - Weekly News: Week of Jan. 5-9, 2026
Good Evening, Ivy Drive School Community:
We were thrilled to welcome our students and staff back this month as we kicked off 2026 together with joy, celebration, and meaningful moments for our students.
Our entire school community jumped right into the 2026 with smiles, laughter, and strong connections.
To celebrate the start of the new year, students across all grade levels participated in our fun-filled Elf Adventures, enjoyed popcorn and a school-wide movie featuring Happy Feet, and took part in special New Year classroom celebrations. These experiences helped our students reconnect with one another, build excitement for learning, and ease back into the rhythm of the school day.
We are excited to share that there has already been so much amazing learning taking place in our classrooms! This week, our kindergarten students in Mrs. Wright's classroom had a very special visit from Mr. Tom Lee, a local storyteller from the Connecticut Storytelling Center. Mr. Lee is visiting all K–1 classrooms to share the art of storytelling, introducing students to fables and legends in an engaging and interactive way. Our youngest learners were captivated as they explored how stories are passed down through generations and how imagination brings words to life.
It has been a wonderful start to the new year at Ivy Drive, and we are so grateful to partner with you as we continue to make 2026 a year filled with learning, connection, and Ivy Drive P.R.I.D.E.
Best,
Erika Coleman
