ID Weekly News - Week of Jan. 12-16
Good Afternoon, Ivy Drive School Community:
I hope you enjoyed a restful long weekend. Today, Bristol Public Schools were closed in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. School will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, January 20th, and we look forward to welcoming our Dragons back to learning!
As we reflect on Dr. King’s legacy, we are reminded that his vision remains true to our focus at Ivy Drive—creating a school where every child is respected, included, supported, and empowered to do their best. Each day, our students and staff live this commitment through our P.R.I.D.E. values and through small, meaningful acts of kindness, courage, and integrity.“The time is always right to do what is right.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Erin’s Law Lessons – January 21 & January 23This week, our School Social Workers and Student Support Team —Mrs. Melaney Coyle, Mrs. Melissa LoSchiavo, and Ms. Rachael Witkewicz—will meet with all students by grade level on January 21 and January 23 to deliver age-appropriate lessons aligned with Erin’s Law. Classroom teachers will be present during these lessons.
What is Erin’s Law?
Erin’s Law is a state requirement that ensures all students receive instruction focused on personal body safety, recognizing unsafe situations, and identifying trusted adults they can go to for help. Lessons are designed to be developmentally appropriate and supportive, with an emphasis on empowerment, awareness, and safety.
If you do not wish for your child to participate in these lessons, please contact the main office to request an opt-out form.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our students safe, supported, and thriving. Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!Best,
Mrs. Erika Coleman
Principal
